Elected Representatives In Wasatch County To Hear Update On The Heber Valley Parkway Project

Heber Valley Parkway Planning Study Report

Elected officials in Wasatch County will participate in a special interlocal meeting on Wednesday. The one item on the agenda is related to the Heber Valley Parkway bypass project.

No action will take place at the Wednesday work meeting. Instead elected officials, staff and residents of Wasatch County, Heber, Midway and other municipalities in the county will hear a report about the proposed road that will bypass traffic to the west side of Heber known as the Heber Valley Parkway project.

The meeting takes place at 6:00 pm in the Wasatch County Senior Center located at 465 East 1200 South in Heber City.

The informational presentation will come from the Mountainland Association of Governments and Utah Department of Transportation. The organizations will share results of the Heber Valley Parkway planning study and review the next steps for the Environmental Impact Study. The four million dollars needed to fund the environmental study was approved by UDOT in April.

During the initial planning study, UDOT received nearly 500 comments from residents weighing in on the proposed route. A large number of the comments supported the bypass in some form but many, especially those in the southwestern portion of Heber, opposed a proposal that would run the bypass along 1300 South in Heber.
