The Executive Director for the Kimball Arts Center has announced he’s leaving that position.    Jory Macomber headed up the Kimball for the past two years.

Macomber has been director of the Art Center since early 2018.   In an e-mail sent to Kimball Art Center members, Macomber said he came to a difficult decision to leave a dynamic and growing organization.

He wrote that with the exception of his job at the Kimball, his professional career of over 30 years has been in education.    He said it’s there that he feels most fulfilled and believes he can make the biggest difference.   He added, “As such, I believe it is best for me to step down and make room for a new leader to advance this impactful organization and help build a vibrant and much-needed arts and culture  district.”

Macomber said he will stay in the job part-time through the spring to help the transition.    He said the board, under new chairman Dan Lemaitre, has launched a nation-wide search for a replacement with the help of an executive search firm.

He said, ‘While this news is bittersweet for me to share, as I do love what Kimball Art Center does for our community, I look forward to being an active member in the future.”
