Summit County’s Justice Court has dismissed the case against Park City Transportation Manager Alfred Knotts.

Knotts was arrested in February at his Summit Park home and later charged with Assault and two Counts of Commission of Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Child.

According to the court docket, Knotts’ was set for a jury trial on June 4th.

However, on Thursday, the County Attorney’s Office filed a motion to dismiss the charges, and Justice Court Judge Shauna Kerr granted the request the next day.    The motion said the county was dropping the case because of “witness issues.”

Asked for comment, Knotts’ attorney Jessica Peterson wrote that, “The Knotts family is very happy the state did the right thing and dismissed this case.    They are looking forward to regaining their privacy and a sense of normalcy that they have not had since these false accusations were made against them.”

The motion dismisses the matter “without prejudice.”, meaning it could be brought back to the court.   But attorney Peterson said that given the lack of evidence, they’re confident the case will not be re-filed.
