Long-serving Utah Congressman Rob Bishop suffered a mild stroke on Monday evening.
Bishop was released from George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. on Wednesday afternoon after experiencing stroke-like symptoms on Monday.
Bishop told KSL Newsradio he had pain in his right side, blurry vision, and a loss of balance before being admitted to the hospital.
The 69-year-old Republican has served as the representative from Utah’s First Congressional District since he was first elected in 2003 and is the senior member of Utah’s congressional delegation.
Utah’s First District represents much of Northern Utah in Congress, including Summit County.
Bishop’s Chief of Staff, Adam Stuart, said the Congressman expects to make a full recovery and will be attending physical therapy over the coming weeks.
Bishop announced his retirement from Congress earlier this year. Republican Blake Moore was elected to replace him in last month’s general election.
