Monday COVID-19 Update: Just Over 1,800 New Cases Statewide, More Than 6,500 Vaccines Administered

Utah saw just over 1,800 new COVID-19 cases Monday the lowest number of new cases on a Monday since the beginning of November.  

Summit County saw 24 new cases, and last Monday for comparison Summit reported 21 new cases.

Wasatch County reported 29 new cases, last Monday the county saw 34.

Utah’s Department of Health reported six new deaths Monday bringing the total number to 1,161 since the start of the pandemic. Wasatch County has now seen 15 COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic and Summit County has seen five. 

Summit County’s seven-day average of positive laboratory tests is more than 17%, and nearly 27% of tests are coming back positive on average in Wasatch County. The statewide 7-day rolling average for positive tests is about 23% which is up from Sunday’s average.

Utah’s Department of Health reported 63 new hospitalizations, Monday. There are 551people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Almost 91% of referral center ICU beds are currently in use, which is down around 8% from Sunday. 

There were more than 2,570 people vaccinated for COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the total number to just over 6,500 of first doses administered. Utah has received 25,000 vaccines since delivery started last week.
