Summit County Attorney Nominated For Second District Court Vacancy

Summit County Government

A Summit County Attorney has been nominated for a vacancy on the Second District Court.

Blake Hill has been a prosecutor in Utah for over two decades. Earlier this week he was nominated for the position by the Second District Judicial Nominating Commission.

Hill is currently the Special Victim Prosecutor for Summit County. Before working in the Wasatch Back, he worked at the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office from 2000-2017. He graduated from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1998.

Should he be selected, Hill would be replacing Judge Ernie Jones, who will retire March 16.

Hill was nominated for the vacancy along with four other candidates.

The commission is accepting written comments from the public, which can be sent to judicialvacancies@utah.gov. Following the public comment period, Governor Spencer Cox will have 30 days to make an appointment.
