Park City’s very own Wyatt Pike has made it to the top 24 of American Idol.

20-year-old Wyatt Pike has made it past another hurdle on the singing competition.

This week’s theme was showstoppers, where contestants were able to perform for the judges for the first time with a full band accompaniment.

64 contestants went into this week’s challenge and only 24 will continue onwards.

Pike, who got his start in music playing gigs around Park City, made it past the audition with his cover of “Blame It On Me” by George Ezra

While giving feedback on the show, judge and country-musician Luke Bryan acknowledged Pike’s unique sound.

"Wyatt kind of does it his own way," Bryan said. "You’re a little left of center and is that what people at home want? I think you’re one step closer to finding out if that’s what America wants."

In a behind the scenes interview, Pike said making it this far has solidified his experience on the show.

"Through the showcase round into the top 24 is like...woah, this is actually American Idol, I can start to believe it now," Pike said. "Even though I’ve been talking to the judges and performing for them for weeks, it’s starting to hit now that this is American Idol afterall. It’s awesome!"

Pike will continue his journey next week, where he will perform a duet with a celebrity. American Idol posted on Twitter that some of the guests will include Josh Groban, Jewel and Tori Kelly. The show airs weekly on Sundays and Mondays at 8/7c.
