Sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Wright said that on Tuesday the 9th, shortly before 10 p.m., dispatch was notified that a female employee at a hotel on Ute Boulevard had been attacked.
The suspect, a 50-year-old Sandy resident, was the subject of a protective order the woman had obtained in August.
The man reportedly said he didn’t care if he went to jail. He stole the woman’s car keys off a counter, spit on her, knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the face.
The woman, identified as a 41-year-old Salt Lake resident, had a swollen eye and was treated by medical personnel.
The report didn’t have any other information about the relationship between the parties.
The suspect fled the scene, but Lt. Wright said they know his name and address. The case has been referred to the county attorney’s office.
Also on Tuesday, at about 5:45 p.m., a deputy observed a white Ford pickup traveling eastbound on I-80. It swerved several times into other lanes and once even collided with another vehicle.
The officer stopped the vehicle shortly before the Coalville exit. The driver was a 30-year-old Coalville resident, and he had his three children in the front seat without seat belts or restraints.
The children—an 8-year-old boy, a 6-year-old boy and a two-year-old daughter-- were released to the man’s spouse. The driver was arrested after performing badly on field sobriety tests.
