The Mountain Life speaks with local resident Jim Doilney who was diagnosed with prostate cancer over 19 years ago. He discusses his soon-to-be published book, Riding the Scalpel. One in nine men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, 60 % of those men at age 65 or older. Almost 100% of men who have local or regional prostate cancer will survive more than five years after diagnosis.  Doilney will you though, the book isn’t just about cancer survival and the journey that led him to see 19 doctors before choosing #18. The book is about his unconventional approach to cancer treatment and life in general. For the last 19 years, he has looked as cancer as just another problem to solve and has refused to let it compromise his risky travel adventures, which he also writes about extensively in the book.
