While the effects of the Covid-19 virus have hammered everyone, Summit County Development Director Pat Putt says that his planning and building staff have adjusted, and can still get work done for the public.
During his regular report to KPCW, Putt said they are encouraging land owners, developers and residents to communicate with them by e-mails, conference calls, or Skype.
He said his department already took steps in that direction years before the current crisis.
“Our Building Department, for almost two years now, have an on-line permitting process and system that doesn’t require people to bring in their plans in order to have them reviewed. We have a planner on call at the front desk every day to deal with walk-ins. We’re gonna be transitioning into doing those again by telephone, e-mail and Skype if necessary. The idea is to limit the face-to-face contact with the public to the greatest degree possible, both for staff’s health and safety and the public as well.”
As for the meeting schedule, Putt said this coming week, fortunately, isn’t scheduled for either the Snyderville Planning Commisison or East County Commission.
He said it will be up to the County Manager to decide what meetings happen in the near future.
