Former Park City Manager Accepts Job In Aspen

Former Park City Manager Diane Foster has been named as the new Assistant City Manager for Aspen. 

The announcement was made at Tuesday’s Aspen City Council meeting. Foster was let go by the Park City Council last October with the council saying they were moving in a new direction.

According to a press release from  Aspen,  Foster was chosen from 71 applicants and she comes to Aspen with over a decade of municipal leadership experience and expertise.

In her position new position, Foster will assist in the implementation of COVID-19 recovery strategies as well as overseeing the city’s largest department, Parks and Recreation. In addition, she will be responsible for guiding Aspen’s Downtown Vitality and Parking, Transportation, and Kids First Departments while supervising the staff of the Aspen Pitkin County Housing Authority.

The position has been open for the last 16 months.

One of Foster’s immediate tasks will be to oversee the transition of the departments that the outgoing Parks and Recreation Director currently oversees.  

In a prepared statement, Aspen City Manager, Sara Ott said the hiring of Foster is positive news for the City of Aspen as an organization and a community. Foster, said Ott, has the experience to help implement policies to move forward with Aspen’s economic and social recovery as well as the insight to lead the organization into the next phase of service to the community
 

Foster’s first day on the job will be May 11th.
