Wyatt Pike broke his social media silence after dropping out of "American Idol" earlier this week.
Park City resident Wyatt Pike posted on Instagram Wednesday afternoon that he had to leave the show for “personal reasons.”
In the post he said he’s grateful that he’ll be able to continue to play music. He also wished the remaining contestants good luck. He added that there will be more musical things to come from him.
"American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest was brief and didn’t offer any explanation during the episode why Pike wasn’t returning to the show.
"I have to tell you that finalist Wyatt Pike will not be competing in the competition," Seacrest said. "He had to drop out. But we wish him the very best."
During Pike’s last performance on "American Idol," the judges complimented his performance of "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon. Katy Perry called him an "authentic singer songwriter" and implied he was a leader in the competition. Luke Bryan said Pike was going to "be able to do music for the rest of his life." And Lionel Richie said Pike had a style the judges liked to watch and the 20-year old was on his "way to something big."
KPCW has tried to reach Pike and a publicist from "American Idol" but has not received any reply. Up until last year, Pike was a volunteer DJ at KPCW.
