It was a nail-biter evening for Wyatt Pike fans, but Sunday night on ABC's "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest announced Pike won enough votes to make it to the Top 16.
There were only two slots left when Pike's name was announced. The 20 year-old Park City singer jumped up and minutes later sang his version of "Use Somebody" by the group Kings of Leon.
After his performance, pop star Katy Perry, a judge on the show, said everytime someone's name was called Pike looked like he was "going to vomit in the chair." She commended Pike for being "such a good guy" who wants "everyone to win." She added Pike has a "little bit of an angle" in the competition because he's "an authentic singer songwriter." Judge Lionel Richie added that Pike has "a style the judges like to watch" and Pike is "on (his) way to something big."
The contestants who performed Sunday night stood on the stage after their song to smile and wave at the camera while Seacrest delivered voting instructions to the audience. Pike, however, chose to use that time to turn around and thank the musicians who played with him.
Monday night, four performers will be cut from the show. The ten who move on will be determined by votes from the public. The other two will be selected by the judges. For more information on how to vote, click here.
