For this holiday weekend, the focus on the east side of Summit County will naturally fall on Oakley’s annual Fourth of July Rodeo.
However, another town on the northern side of the county is also planning festivities for Independence Day as Henefer is set to host an event at its Town Square on Saturday, July 3.
According to the town, a 5K run, a bike-a-thon and a flag-raising ceremony will be part of the morning festivities. Vendors will be open and games offered through the day. A parade on Henefer’s Main Street is set to highlight the celebration at 2 p.m. before an evening concert featuring musician Greg Simpson at 7:30 p.m.
Due to statewide fire restrictions, city fireworks have been postponed until New Year’s Eve.
Coalville, the county seat, doesn’t have any activities planned for the Fourth. But coming up soon after is its Summer Celebration on July 8 Tickets are on sale for a concert with the group Sawyer Brown at the Summit County Fairgrounds.
To the south, meanwhile, Kamas and Francis are not hosting activities. But both of them have their own annual events later in the summer.
Kamas’ celebration, Fiesta Days, runs from July 22-24, coinciding with Pioneer Day.
Francis commemorates the end of summer with Frontier Days, set to run Sept. 3-6.
