According to Park City Film Director Katy Wang, the Jim Santy auditorium has a line-up geared towards the outdoors and some heroic human endeavors.
Halloween weekend, they'll show the Sundance 2021 documentary, My Name is Pauli Murray. They'll hold a panel discussion on Saturday night, October 30, after the film.
"And this is about a pioneering nonbinary black lawyer, activist, and Episcopal priest--she did many things--who shaped landmark litigation and consciousness around race and gender equity, but whose name is really largely unknown to the general public. Hopefully, this film will change that. It's by directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West, who famously brought us RBG about Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. And they do a fantastic job with Polly Murray."
In coordination with the Live PC Give PC weekend, PC Film will show The Rescue. Wang said it's a documentary about the 2018 rescue of a Thai youth soccer team from a flooded underground cave.
"The film not only brings to life this extraordinary rescue but also the courage and compassion of the rescuers and the shared humanity of people coming together from all over the world for a common cause. We thought that'd be a perfect complement for live PC give PC. I got to see the film at the Tarot Film Festival, just standing ovations, unbelievable story. Even if you think you know it, there's so much more to it than you could possibly imagine."
Thursday, November 11, they'll show two short films about outdoor endeavors: Rite of Passage and Home Lines.
On November 12, Wang said the long-awaited sci-fi classic remake, Dune, will be shown.
COVID-19 guidelines require everyone to wear a mask unless seated, actively drinking, or eating. And it's BYOB – bring your own bowl – for popcorn.
"So, we're still operating at limited capacity. We're about 40% capacity, so about 150 seats per show. But we still require masks for all patrons and then of course, have enhanced ventilation. But we are allowing people to bring their bowls. People are asking a lot about that."
