Wanship fire burns 40 acres, causes brief evacuations

What started as a structure fire Sunday afternoon quickly grew to an estimated 40-acre blaze.

Sunday at 9:10 p.m.: Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Summit County announced the Wanship Fire was estimated 40 acres in size and 40% contained. Fire crews planned to work throughout the night.

Sunday 9:11 p.m.: Summit County announced evacuations have been lifted.

Sunday 6:52 p.m. According to Utah Fire Info, the structure fire in Wanship was first reported about 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Crews from North Summit Fire and Park City Fire District responded. Two hours later, the fire - named the Wanship Hill Fire - had grown to an estimated 40 acres and was "growing rapidly." Another six to 10 structures are threatened. Multiple resources are on scene.
