Park City Muncipal has cut ties with its former Assistant city attorney Polly Samuels McLean. KPCW’s Leslie Thatcher has more.
In a press release, Park City announced that Assistant City Attorney, Polly Samuels McLean, has resigned her employment with the City. That became effective January 7th. The statement was brief, saying only that the resignation is amicable and the parties have no outstanding issues between them.
The statement adds that McLean plans to open her own law practice.
In a prepared statement, City Attorney Mark Harrington said he appreciates McLean's thirteen years of service adding that she has been a key member of the legal staff and pivotal in her role within the Community Development department.
McLean and her husband were arrested last September and charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal mischief after missing hunting equipment was located in both the couple’s home in Summit Park and a cabin in Lamb’s Canyon.
In early November, Mclean went on unpaid administrative leave until the court case was settled. In a plea agreement in November, she pleaded no contest to the charge of criminal mischief and the theft charge was dismissed. The plea will be held in abeyance for 12 months and could be dismissed at the end of that abeyance period if she completes the court mandated conditions, which include paying a $1500 fee and $180 in restitution. She was also ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and can’t violate any laws.
The city farmed out her job duties to other legal staff and hired land use attorney Jody Burnett to fill in during planning commission meetings.
