Following a holiday weekend, Utah generally sees a lull in COVID-19 cases, but statewide and locally numbers are staying high.
The Utah Department of Health announced 2,160 new COVID-19 cases Monday, which is over 400 more cases than the state saw last Monday after a holiday.
Summit County saw 45 new cases, and in comparison, last Monday Summit reported 30 new cases.

Wasatch County reported 35 new cases. Last Monday, the county saw 31.

Utah’s Department of Health reported four new deaths Monday. To date, 1,305 Utahns have died of COVID-19, including five from Summit County and 15 from Wasatch County.
The state saw an increase of 6,619 new tests administered. The statewide 7-day rolling average for positive tests is nearing 31% which is up from Sunday’s average.
Summit County’s seven-day average of positive laboratory tests is over 21%, and nearly 25% of tests are coming back positive on average in Wasatch County.
Utah’s Department of Health reported 81 new hospitalizations. There are 484people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, over 86% of referral center ICU beds are in use.
1,193 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Sunday, bringing the total number to 48,575 first doses administered. The state has received more than 140,000 doses of vaccines.
