Park City-born Olympian Casey Dawson set a new U.S. record in the men’s 10,000m speed skating during a weekend race in Calgary, Alberta.

Dawson finished in seventh place with a time of 12:45.43, breaking the previous mark set by Chad Hedrick in 2005 by more than nine seconds.

Team USA broke three more records during the three-day world cup competition.

U.S. skater Jordan Stolz broke two track records in the 1,500m and 1,000m and had a perfect weekend, winning the men’s 500m, 1000m and 1500m. The skater out of Wisconsin remains unbeaten in World Cup competition this season.

In the U.S. Men’s Team Sprint, Austin Kleba, Cooper McLeod and Zach Stoppelmoor combined to set a new world record as well. Their winning time was .19 seconds faster than the previous record set by Canada last year.

The speed skating World Cup will continue in Wisconsin next weekend.
