No Risk To Drink Water From Crash Because Of Oil Leak

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Health and environment officials say there's no risk to Salt Lake City area drinking water from a crude oil spill on Interstate 80 earlier Wednesday.

The Salt Lake County Health Department and Salt Lake City Public Utilities said Wednesday afternoon that the spill in Parley's Creek can be cleaned up before it hits the reservoirs that provide drinking water.

The crash Wednesday morning snarled westbound traffic on the highway and sent two drivers to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Utah Highway Patrol says about a hundred barrels of oil spilled on to the road.

Authorities say the trailer was carrying 4,500 gallons of oil. The other was transporting paper supplies.
