Summit County Named Sixth Wealthiest County In The U.S.

Park City Municipal

Summit County has been listed as one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, according to a government report that measured per capita income.

The report came from the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis, which said that in 2017, only 12 counties nation-wide had a per capita income over $100,000.

Summit County ranked as No. 6 on that list, with an income level of $121,932.

Several other locales with resort areas were in the listing. Number one was Teton County, Wyoming—home of Jackson Hole—with a per capita income of nearly $234,000. Pitkin County, Colorado—the locale for Aspen—set an income level of nearly $144,000. And Blaine County, Idaho, home of Sun Valley, showed an income level of over $102,500.

Three other counties on the list were in the San Francisco/Silicon Valley region—Marin, San Mateo and San Francisco. Others included Westchester and New York Counties in New York, Nantucket in Massachusetts and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

The report said that out of 3,000 counties surveyed in the country, personal income increased in 2,787 of the counties. Income decreased in just 318 and didn’t change in 8, for last year.
