The pond opened for skating on Dec. 11 but closed Jan. 1 due to unfavorable weather conditions.

The Willow Creek pond has reopened for ice skating.

It was closed Dec. 11 after Basin Recreation says weather changes made the ice unsafe.

Now, thanks to a cold snap and low overnight temperatures, the pond reopened Thursday, Jan. 9.

The Basin Recreation parks team will monitor the pond to ensure it remains safe for skaters.
