Semi Hits, Kills Pedestrian On Hwy 40 Late Friday Night

Courtesy Utah Highway Patrol

The Utah Highway Patrol is reporting that a tanker truck this weekend struck a pedestrian who was walking on Highway 40 at night.

The UHP reported that the fatality happened shortly after 3:00 am Saturday morning. An oil tanker truck that was heading south, just before entering Heber, hit a male pedestrian who was in the roadway.

He was wearing dark clothing, and the highway is unlit in that area. The Highway Patrol reported that the pedestrian didn't have any identification and was apparently a transient.

Highway 40 was closed during the investigation. The truck driver was not injured. Speed and impairment don't seem to be factors in the crash.
