As we’ve reported a head-on crash on Saturday morning South of Heber sent a young couple from Duchesne to the hospital in critical condition. Utah Highway Patrol is now reporting that the young woman has died.
Shantell Youngand her husband Macoy were driving on US 40 Saturday morning between Strawberry Reservoir and Heber when a man driving a stolen car crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into the Young’s head on.
Utah Highway Patrol reports that the pregnant 22-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.
According to charging documents the man who caused the crash fled the scene on foot before he was captured by law enforcement. Utah Highway Patrol reports they will be meeting with Wasatch County Attorney to screen more charges related to the woman and her unborn child’s death. The man currently faces 5 charges including Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle a Second-Degree Felony, and Failure to Stop At Injury Accident a Class A Misdemeanor.
