US 40 Projects Near Strawberry Makes UDOT Top Ten Project List For 2019

Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center

UDOT announced its list of Top 10 construction projects for 2019. Included on that list is a project in Wasatch County.

Utah’s Department of Transportation reports that this year they’ll work on 169 construction projects, valued at about $2.1 billion. On Wednesday the department released a top ten projects list for the department, number six on the list is a project on U.S. 40. UDOT officials say that the $37 million project will extend the westbound passing lane on U.S. 40 by five miles near Strawberry Reservoir. Additionally, the project will repave an 18-mile section of the highway from Daniel’s Summit to Soldier Creek. Crews will also add a wildlife crossing to reduce collisions between vehicles and animals. Work begins this month and is scheduled for completion in summer 2020.

According to the state’s vehicle crash map 69 collision happened in 2018 on US 40 between Daniels and the Wasatch/Duchesne County line, two of which were fatal.
