Midway City Council Meets To Discuss Saddle Creek Ranch Development And FY 2020 Budget

Midway City

Midway City Council meets Tuesday at 6:00 to work on a few items including the city’s budget and a master plan for a 36-lot subdivision. Notably missing from the agenda is the Homestead Resort.

The council meets in regular session at 6:00 pm at the Midway Community Center located at 160 West Main Street.

A public hearing is scheduled to discuss the Saddle Creek Ranch Master Plan. The Planned Unit Development is located at 970 South 250 West and has 57 building pads, but City Planner Michael Henke says the developer would like to reduce the density.

“Create 36-half-acre lots,” Henke explained. “So, we would be going from a planned unit development, with higher density which would have private roads, usually planned unit development have a higher percentage of 2nd homes; to a standard subdivision again with the 36-half-acre lots, with public roads, which usually end up being primary residences. So, there's pluses and minuses each way. So, the city council's taking a look at the proposal and seeing if they’d like to entertain amending this platt and coming in with the standard subdivision.”

The council will also discuss and possibly adopt a tentative budget for fiscal year 2020.

Although on earlier agendas, the Homestead Resort Master Plan Amendment was taken off of the city’s agenda for Tuesday night.

The item was taken off the agenda after a request from the potential buyers of the Homestead Resort. The item will likely be moved to the council’s May 21st meeting.

Members of the Midway City Council went on a site tour of the Homestead Resort on Friday May 3rd.
