Wasatch County Council To Debate Well Ordinances, Open Records Policy

Wasatch County

The Wasatch County Council meets in regular session Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.

At the meeting, the council will receive their weekly update from the county health department regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of Tuesday morning, Wasatch County had 77 active cases, 383 recovered cases and four deaths connected to COVID-19.

An ordinance that would lower the minimum size of a property that can have a well in the county will also be considered.

Currently, lots that are five acres or larger can have a culinary well dug on them, but the county is considering a change to lower the minimum to four acres, with a particular focus on property in the northern part of the Heber Valley near the Provo River.

The council will also hear a presentation of a 2019 audit and approve the results of the June 30 primary election. Current council member Kendall Crittenden defeated Elizabeth Hokanson in the Republican primary; Crittenden will go unchallenged in November’s election.

Finally, the council will consider amending the code regarding how calculations are made for steepness-of-slope on a property looking to be developed; and have a second reading of an ordinance that would update the fee schedule for open records requests to the county.
