Man Pinned By Van In Summit Park In 'Weather-Related Tragic Accident'

A Salt Lake County resident died in Summit Park Wednesday, after being pinned between a van, snowbank and tree.

A Summit County snowplow operator called the Sheriff’s Office Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 after witnessing the accident.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, the operator reported a cargo van was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Saint Moritz Strasse in Summit Park. An adult man - in his 40s - got out of the van, which began to slide down the icy road.

The man attempted to stop the van, by getting behind it, but was run over, and pinned between the van, snowbank and a tree.

Medical personnel arrived at the scene and unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate the man.

The release said it was “nothing short of a weather-related tragic accident.”

The Sheriff’s Office won’t release the name of the man, until friends and family receive notification of his death.
