Alpine Distilling won a gold medal award at the 2021 World’s Most Important Gin competition in London.

Park City’s own Alpine Distilling has been named the top gin distillery of 2021.

The World’s Most Important Gin competition is based in London, England. In late October, it awarded Alpine its gold medal.

“If somebody’s going to decide on liking a gin,” says Sara Sergent, distiller, “if you get the approval of the London and British community, that would be the place, with gin having basically originated in Europe in the 1700s and then going from there.”

Alpine’s product went up against thousands of gins from 21 countries.

“We distill our gin through a vapor extraction process, so it’s really our pressure and flow rate, with a proprietary blend of botanicals, that allow us to create the world’s best gin,” Sergent says.

Sara and Rob Sergent opened the distillery in Park City in 2017. Located at 350 Main Street, it’s also known for its whiskey.

Sara Sergent says especially in a time like during the pandemic, she appreciates the local community.

“Like many small, mom-and-pop businesses, COVID provided significant challenges to our operation, but we are extremely grateful to live in a community where locals and local businesses - like Blind Dog, No Name, Spur, Hearth and Hill, Stein Eriksen and Twisted Fern - continue to support our efforts and allow us to maintain our operations.”

Alpine has won numerous other statewide, national and international awards since its opening.
