Emil was born in Texas, graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and spent three years as a news anchor and reporter with WBAP radio in Dallas. He also spent four seasons broadcasting minor league baseball in Fort Worth, Texas.
The 90-foot carving on the side of Stone Mountain in Georgia is the largest Confederate monument in the world. As the U.S. undergoes racial reckoning, the monument's future remains in doubt.
