The judges for the Park City’s Miners’ Day have announced the winners for this year’s parade.
According to Park City Rotary Club Spokesman Tom Kelly, the Best Overall award went to the Summit County COVID-19 Vaccination Volunteers. The entry was led by those who helped organized the mass vaccination center, including the owner of the Utah Film Studios Gary Crandall, Summit County Nursing Director Derek Moss, and Summit County Emergency Manager Chris Crowley. They were followed by a couple dozen volunteers who checked people in and administered the vaccines at the vaccine center.
The Best Youth award went to Bobby Lawrence Karate with a few of the float’s participants breaking boards and showing off their karate kicks underneath a 20 foot blow up karate character.
The Park City Pickleball Club won the Most Creative award for their attempt to play pickleball walking down the parade route, using a rolling net.
The Best Non-Profit award went to Summit Community Gardens with their sunflower decked truck and gardeners wearing peas and carrot costumes.
Politicians Nann Worel and Jeremy Rubell won the most spirited and best political representative awards.
The Best Park City Miners theme went to Friends of Mining History, sponsored by Park City Mountain Resort.
The parade was kicked off with police sirens and the Utah Color Guard, followed by two years of the Rotary Club’s Volunteer and Professional Citizens of the year and ended, as always with the Main St. Trolley and its police escort.
