Utah Celebrates 125 Years of Statehood With Simultaneous Fireworks in All 29 Counties

thrive125.utah.gov/

Utah is celebrating 125 years of statehood with a firework celebration throughout the state.

The fireworks will go off simultaneously in all 29 counties of the state Monday at 7:30 p.m. and will last 3-4 minutes. The event will also air on a TV special.

Fireworks in Summit County will be launched at the base of the Utah Olympic Park. Residents can watch the display from the Kimball Junction park-n-ride.

People in Wasatch County can view the fireworks at Memorial Hill in Midway.

The event is hosted by the Utah Department of Heritage and Arts in recognition of the state’s anniversary. “Thrive125: A Utah Celebration,” is a TV special that will air at 6:30 p.m. on all four Utah network affiliates and will air again on PBS Utah at 8:30 p.m. It will celebrate the state’s “artistic heritage, cultural diversity and scenic wonders” through performances from notable Utahns.

Utah Gov. Elect Spencer Cox said the event will help Utahns start their new year with “unity and hope.”

A statement on the website for the event stresses COVID-19 safety - encouraging residents to watch from a distance, in their yards or in their cars.
