The number of COVID-19 cases in Wasatch County doubled from three to six on Friday. That coming from the Friday evening special Wasatch County Council session.
Wasatch County Health Department Director Randall Probst explained to the council that the 4th case in the county was a male between 18-35 years old his case was linked to a case in Park City. The 5th case was a male between 35-60, that case was linked to travel. The 6th case in the county is a woman between the ages of 35-60, Probst says that case appears to be linked to a case in Salt Lake. While no one is hospitalized with COVID-19 in the county, Probst said that specific information will no longer be available in order to avoid individuals from figuring out the identities of those with the virus. Probst said the community is doing a good job of adopting social distancing practices.
“A lot of people are starting to say how long is this going to go? And have we been doing this long enough? The answer is yes, you’re doing well but we’re not near long enough," Probst continued. "We need to keep doing this we need to continue to be vigilant in this.”
At the meeting council also promoted continued civility in the community as the council and other local leaders deal with impacts from the virus. They also highlighted the addition of information on the Coronavirus.Wasatch.Utah.Gov website. Council showed an eight-minute informational video which detailed information on the biology of the disease and how methods are successful in preventing severe long-term damage to the community.
