Sundance Mountain Resort announced Tuesday it will add a new high-speed chairlift and 165 acres of terrain for the 2026-2027 winter season.

The new quad lift is called the Electric Horsemen Express, named after a 1979 western comedy starring Robert Redford. Redford bought the Utah County land to build Sundance Resort in 1969.

The lift will start near the Wildwood Lift base and rise 1,850 vertical feet in six minutes, ending at the top of Red’s Lift.

The Electric Horseman Express will allow skiers and riders to access new and existing back-mountain terrain from Bearclaw Summit.

The 165 acres of new terrain will open in phases.

The resort plans to add nine new trails during the 2025-2026 season, called the Far East expansion. The trails include two intermediate runs, one going down Far East Ridge with 360-degree views from Utah Valley to Heber Valley.

Another 100 acres of terrain will open during the 2026-2027 winter season, called the New Bowl expansion. The terrain is adjacent to Bishops Bowl and goes down Provo Canyon.
