The Mountain Life - November 19, 2014

Lynn Ware Peek is joined by guest co-host Rudy Tessnow.  They speak with Mary Christa Smith,  program director for Summit Community Power Works. It's the program that has been established to help Park City win the $5 million dollar Georgetown University Prize that seeks to encourage communities to reduce their energy consumption.
Then, a conversation with diabetes expert Betty Wade.  This month is National Diabetes Month.  Diabetes is perhaps the most costly and growing health crisis in the country.  It affects nearly 25 million people in this country – by 2035, another 5 million people are expected to have the disease.  And what we know is that for Type 2 diabetes, lifestyle greatly influences getting the disease..or not.

Rudy’s passion for music evolved through many years as a trombone player in all kinds of settings -- jazz groups, ensembles, orchestras and marching bands. When he’s not on the radio, Rudy travels all over the US, Central America, and the Caribbean as an airline pilot, and is always in search of fresh new sounds to add to his repertoire. So if you dig everything from '70s rock like Doobie Brothers, Chicago and Steely Dan to present-day singer songwriter sounds with upbeat melodies and robust instrumentation, check out KPCW on Monday mornings, when Rudy takes to the airwaves.
