The Utah Democratic Party's 2025 Organizing Convention will be at the Ogden High School on Saturday, May 31.

Delegates from across the state will gather for the Utah Democratic Party’s 2025 Organizing Convention to elect the next state party leaders.

A chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer will be elected at the convention Saturday.

Current Democratic chair, Diane Lewis, is stepping away from her role. Four candidates are running for her position including the party’s 2024 candidate for governor, Brian King.

King represented a portion of Summit County when he served as state house representative for District 23 for 16 years.

Other candidates for the next leader of the state Democratic Party include Archie Williams III, who ran for lieutenant governor in last year’s election; Ben Peck, who served as executive director for the Salt Lake County Democratic Party from 2021 to 2023; and Jonathan Lopez who ran for congress in 2024.

The organizing convention starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at Ogden High School. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.

The Utah GOP Organizing Convention was May 17 where delegates elected Rob Axson for his second term as chair.
