Summit County Public Art Advisory Board Offers Free Art Talk & Workshop at Ledges Event Center in Coalville - July 29, 2023
The Ledges Sculpture Art Talk & Community Workshop sponsored by the Summit County Public Art Advisory Board, with support from the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County will take place on Saturday, July 29 from 3-5pm at the Ledges Event Center on 202 Park Road in Coalville. This is a chance for the community to learn about the Ledges rock art unique to the area, meet sculptors Sasha and Romeo, and to influence the design of the magnets that will adorn the Ledges Sculpture! The event will kick off with an Art Talk by Elizabeth Hora, a Public Archeologist with the Utah State Historic Preservation Office, followed by Lucie Washakie of the Eastern Shoshone Nation who will speak on the history and current significance of the Ledges rock art. Sculpture artists Sasha and Romeo will then lead attendees in a series of activities that will lead to the creation of “modern pictograph” magnets to be placed upon the finished sculpture. This event is free and open to all Summit County residents, and offers education and activities for both adults and children. Coalville and North Summit residents are highly encouraged to attend.
