Wasatch Front DMV Offices Opening Friday

Utah DMV

As the state approaches the May 1st move to stabilization, Utah’s department of motor vehicles will be re-opening some offices in the Wasatch Front.

This Friday the Department of Motor Vehicles will be opening lobbies by appointment only at the Ogden, Farmington, Salt Lake, Draper and Provo locations. While Wasatch Back offices will not be opening, Utah DMV director Monte Roberts says appointments at the aforementioned Wasatch Front locations can be scheduled at DMV.Utah.Gov

“If you already have an appointment, then all we have to do is check you in,” Roberts explained. “If you do not have an appointment, we can either direct you where to go make an appointment if we're busy, so that we can help others to check in and keep the line moving. But we are still planning to do everything by appointment only.”

For the past few weeks, the DMV has been extending hours of their drive through services, that also will change on Friday.

“Our drive throughs, which have been operating with extended hours, will return to Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM,’ Roberts said. “Social distancing advisories are required, and face masks should be worn in the lobby.”

Spacing will be enforced in lobbies, and sneeze guards will be installed. Not all transactions will be available for appointment scheduling. Roberts reminds residents that the DMV and driver's license division are separate entities in the state. Roberts also encourages vehicle registrations to be completed online.
