KPCW Appoints Renai Bodley as new General Manager

KPCW news reporter Renai Bodley was named today as the new General Manager of the station, to replace retiring GM Larry Warren.  Bodley is a 27 year veteran broadcaster who joined KPCW two years ago after a long and successful 19 years building Salt Lake City’s Fox 13 Television into a market leading news station as first its Assistant News Director and then News Director.

“KPCW’s Board of Trustees conducted a vigorous national search earlier this year,” Board Chairman Bob Richer said today.  “We received 30 applications which our selection committee narrowed to seven who were interviewed via Skype.  Two were invited for personal interviews and we determined that our own Renai Bodley was the best choice, given her proven skills in broadcast management, community connections, and above all, journalism—which is our most important service to our listeners.”

Bodley is a native Virginian but has lived in Utah since 1996 and Park City for the past three years.  Bodley is especially excited about working with KPCW’s long standing broadcast pros.  “Community icons like Leslie Thatcher, Randy Barton and Rick Brough are key to our success.  They’ve been in Park City for decades and provide enormous value to the station and its listeners.”  She also praised the volunteer hosts of KPCW’s Public Affairs programs and the volunteer DJ’s—The KPCW Volunteer Air Force—for their service to the community through their considerable efforts in keep KPCW programmed 24 hours every day of the year.

“I look forward to building on the strong foundation Larry Warren has established at KPCW,” says Bodley.  “Under Larry’s watch, the station expanded its news department in order to cover our growing community.  It is more important than ever that KPCW stay on top of what’s happening and be the main source of news and information for our listeners.”

“With Renai leading KPCW forward, we are confident we can continue growing and providing the excellent mix of news, information and entertainment our listeners have come to expect,” added Richer.

Larry Warren was named General Manager in April, 2010, after a long career in news management and news reporting at KUTV in Salt Lake City.  “I couldn’t be happier or more confident in turning over leadership to Renai.  She’s committed to Park City, journalism, community service and the mission of KPCW.

Warren will retire June 19th, wrapping up a 46 year career as a broadcaster.  Bodley’s appointment becomes effective June 5th and after two weeks of transition, Warren will retire June 19th.
