Congressional District 1 Forum Part 1

The Park City Unit of the League of Women Voters hosted the candidates for Congressional District 1 in a forum in Park City on Thursday June 14th. Democratic candidates Kurt Weiland and Lee Castillo as well as United Utah candidate Eric Eliason were all in attendance. The Incumbent Republican Rob Bishop did not respond to invitations to the event.

Part 1 features the candidates introducing themselves and answering the following questions

"What do you think about immigrant children being separated from parents, and what's the solution?"

"Would you support federal legislation to raise the age of gun purchases to 21? Would you make the sale of bump stocks illegal? Would you require universal background checks for all gun purchases? Would you prohibit the sale of fully automatic weapons?"

"Do you support universal health care? and if not what's your plan to provide health care for the people?"

You can find part 2 posted below.
