Beck Construction makes progress on replacing the waterline on Heber Avenue - opening up the intersection at Park and Heber Avenue’s. However, that means another intersection is closed. KPCW’s Melissa Allison has more:
When the Snyderville Basin Water Reclamation District heard Park City was going to replace the main waterline on Heber Ave by the historic Kimball Garage – they asked the city to replace the manhole at the intersection of Heber Ave. and Main St.
That is why the intersection is now closed.
Park City Public Utilities Director Clint McAffee said it can’t be avoided.
“This is really needed to expedite the work just so we can get in and get out as quickly as we can to minimize the impact,” McAffee said. “But the work is extensive enough with the manhole replacement and the various connections we have to make in the street to existing waterlines.”
The closure is scheduled for Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, but it will remain open over the weekends from 7 p.m. through to Monday morning at 7 a.m.
McAffee said people should try and avoid the intersection if they can.
“We’re gonna divert people coming uphill on Park Ave. from the north either left on 9th St., left on 7th St. or they can continue up to 4th and 5th St. and take it up to Main St.,” McAffee said.
McAffee said they plan on having the work done by the 26th but, due to the recent weather patterns, makes no promises.
