Sheriff's Report Includes Car Crash Without A Driver

Summit County Sheriff's Office

A single-car rollover and a truck crashed into a deck were both part of the Summit County Sheriff’s Departments activities early in the week.

Summit County Sheriff’s Department reports on Monday a roll over occurred on Highland Drive. The vehicle hit a cement pillar and gate and rolled onto its roof. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. The driver, a 22-year old man from Logan said he was distracted by a deer and lost control of the car. The man had no injuries, but both the car and pillar were severely damaged. The man was cited for a few violations and let go.

Tuesday morning Summit County Sheriff’s Department were informed that a blue Tacoma truck had crashed into the back deck of a resident’s home on Crestview Drive in Summit Park. Because no one was in the truck it was believed to be a hit and run.

A few minutes later a resident on Upper Evergreen Drive called and reported their truck was missing. Deputies then determined that the owner of the truck forgot to put it in park and it rolled out of the garage down an embankment and into the deck causing the damage.
