A Local Nonprofit Changes Their Name

parkcityfilm.org

The Park City Film Series has been around for 23 years showing independent cinema to the Park City community but due to changes over the past five years – they’ve changed their name – just a little. Melissa Allison has more:

The Park City Film Series has evolved over time and doesn’t just show films. Director Katy Wang said there are countless they want to make sure aren’t overlooked.

“It occurred to us that they were kind of getting lost in the mix,” Wang said. “That with “Film Series” as kind of the overall kind of meta name, it was really diluting the impact of our other programs. So now we’re going to be Park City Film. Our new website which has a new logo, slightly different than the one we had before, its not a whole rebrand. B ut really, just to have a different umbrella name so that everything underneath it all, all the programs that we offer, could exist at the same level and raise the profile of them.”

Some of those programs include Reel Community Series, Art On Screen and Made In Utah.

She said people who went to the weekend shows didn’t know about the other programs and vice versa.

Wang said you can now buy your tickets online.

“You can sort by the different program eras,” Wang said. “You can say, ‘Oh, I just want to see Foreign Cinema” whether its for adult or children. Or, ‘I just want programs for children’ or ‘I just want evening programs.’ You can go online and buy a ticket and guarantee your spot, we had a lot of people upset last year they couldn’t get into Lady Bird or RPG.”

They’re also having their 13th Annual Filmmakers Showcase on Thursday and begins at 7 p.m. It’s free to the public with a reception afterward.
