Couple Attacked By Five Men In Kimball Junction

Summit County Sheriff's Office

The Summit County Sheriff’s Department says a couple reported a late-night assault by a group of men last weekend at Kimball Junction.

Sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Wright said officers got a call February 3rd, about 1:30 am from an address near the Basin Fieldhouse.

A couple said they were approached by five white males, who tried to convince the woman to go with them. When she said no—that she was with her boyfriend—they began hitting and kicking the man. The woman jumped in trying to stop the attack.

The report said the couple was also white—identified as a 24-year-old male from Salt Lake, and a 23-year-old woman from Park City.

The responding deputies circulated in the area, and found one suspect, very intoxicated, who the couple identified as part of the group. He had head injuries but wouldn’t say how he was hurt. The suspect, released to medical personal, was identified as a 26-year-old male from San Francisco.

The investigation is ongoing, with deputies looking to obtain video from a nearby business.

Elsewhere on the incident report, a shop at Tanger Outlets reported a theft on Thursday night, the 31st, but the thieves, at least, were using mass transit.

Two suspects, described as heavy-set Hispanic males in their 20’s, stole 16 pair of sunglasses from the store and ran out. A witness said the suspects got on a transit shuttle headed toward Wal-Mart. The transit system was notified, but deputies didn’t locate the suspects.

Also, on Thursday, a 41-year-old man from Park City said a loan to a friend had gone bad. He said he let the friend borrow his truck a few months ago, but the suspect had not returned the vehicle, a white Ford F-250, and he didn’t respond to phone calls or messages.

Deputies found the vehicle was reported as impounded, but the tow company said it has been released to the suspect. Lt. Wright said the 24-year-old suspect had an address listed out of Oro Valley, Arizona.
