Park City Hockey Finishes 2nd At State, North Summit Girls Basketball Finishes 3rd

Park City High School’s club hockey team cruised through the opening rounds of the playoffs defeating Copper Hills by a score of 12-2 and Murray 5-0. After a 5-2 loss to Viewmont the Miners defeated Farmington 8-2. In a true double elimination style Park City was able to play Viewmont again who they beat 5-2. In the final match of the tournaments Viewmont prevailed by a score of 5-2. The miners finished the season 16-5 and runners-up in the highest division in Utah High School Hockey.

North Summit’s Girls’ basketball team finished 3rd in the state in the 2A division. The braves placed 1st in their region and won the first two games of the tournament against Rockwell and Millard. The lady braves lost in the semifinals to eventual runners-ups Kanab. In their final game on Saturday North Summit defeated Enterprise 55-44 to place 3rd. North Summit’s boys team finished 6th in the 2A division the braves won their opening game against North Sevier before losing to Kanab They then defeated Draper American Preparatory Academy before dropping their final game to Enterprise.

Wasatch high school’s girls’ basketball team also made a deep run in the 5A division. The wasps placed 3rd in region eight but upset two favorites in the opening rounds defeating Timpview and Box Elder. Wasatch High lost to eventual state champions East High School in the semifinals. The 5A division does not play a third-place game. Meanwhile Wasatch High School’s boys team also finished 3rd in their region, the Wasps lost in the opening round of the state tournament against Corner Canyon.

South Summit high school’s boys team finished 2nd in their region but were knocked out in the first round of the 3A state tournament. South Summit girls team also was knocked out in the first round. The lady wildcats finished the season 4th in the region.

Park City high school’s boys team finished 5th in their region and did not qualify for the state tournament. Likewise, the Park City high school girls’ team did not qualify for the state tournament and finished 6th in the region.
