Wasatch County Fair Kicks Off This Weekend

Heber Valley Tourism

The Wasatch County Fair kicks off today with the demolition derby. That’s just one of a few events taking place at the county fairgrounds during the next week.

The fair kicks off this weekend with the annual demolition derby. Heber Valley Communications Manager Dallin Koecher says they’ve made a slight tweak to the demolition derby.

“By popular demand the traditional Demolition Derby—which was one night, which used to sell out in 30 seconds of being online—is now two nights,” Koecher explained. “So, we have two nights, Friday and Saturday night. Demolition Derby tickets are still available for Friday night if you’ve never been to it you’ve got to do it at least once in your life.”

The fair takes a break on Sunday before picking back up on Monday.

“We have our party in the park where they have free hot dogs, watermelon, and drinks,” Koecher said. “They'll do a talent show at the end of that. That's a lot of fun to watch the young kids get up on stage for the first time and do something that they've never done before and be excited about it. So, that's Monday from 6:00 to 8:30. Tuesday we have a pool party at the Wasatch County Aquatic Center. Wednesday there's the outdoor movie at Southfield Park. They’re going to watch ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet.’”

On Thursday evening is the battle of the bands with the top band being awarded a $500 purse.

“A lot of these bands,” Koecher continued. “Especially country music and bands they get their starts at County fairs, right? That's where they kind of sometimes get discovered.”

Additionally, the week will have plenty of exhibits, performances, FFA and 4H livestock shows and auctions, carnivals and BBQ dinners. The Wasatch County Fair wraps up with The Mountain Valley Stampede Rodeo on Friday and Saturday. You can find the full schedule and additional details here and here.
