Another special event casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic was announced today as Autumn ALoft, Park City’s annual hot air balloon festival, has been canceled in accordance with health and safety protocols.
The event, which was scheduled for Sept. 19 and 20, usually features about 2 dozen hot air balloons taking off during Saturday and Sunday morning launch events in Park Meadows, which fills the skies over Park City and is visible for miles, as well as the Saturday evening “candlestick” event on Main Street where the balloon pilots fire the exposed aircraft engines into the night sky.
The event typically attracts large numbers of both locals and visitors. The 2021 edition is still scheduled to take place on Sept. 18 and 19.
