Law enforcement officers in Wasatch County detained a suspect who reportedly fled after a shooting in the Uintah Basin Sunday afternoon.
The Wasatch Sheriff’s Office reported on its Facebook page that at about 1 p.m. Sunday, they got a call that the suspect had shot someone in Roosevelt in Duchesne County and may have accidentally shot himself in the arm. He stole a vehicle and fled the area.
County deputies searched the U.S. 40 corridor in Daniel’s Canyon and found the vehicle. The suspect fled again. The county worked with Heber City, U.S. Forest Service, and Utah State Parks officers to apprehend the driver.
He ultimately crashed west of Heber on S.R. 189 and was taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as Jason D. Hare, is being treated at a Utah County hospital and will be transferred to jail when possible. The victim in Roosevelt has been treated and is reportedly in stable condition.
