A bicyclist was hit by a truck in Park City earlier this week. The bicyclist was hit on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Royal Street and Silver Lake Drive.
A truck driver from Coalville tried to turn left onto Silver Lake Drive. Phil Kirk with the Park City police department said the driver said he didn’t see the bicyclist.
The driver had a suspended license so his truck was put out of service.
The bicyclist was injured in the accident. She was transported to the hospital and had a six inch laceration on her leg. The bicyclist was riding with another person who was not injured.
Kirk said it’s possible the driver was distracted, and that’s why he didn’t see the bicyclist.
Kirk said the police department is cracking down on distracted drivers. He said after a number of serious accidents this year, the department is looking for funding to implement enforcement operations to catch drivers on using phones.
