Sunday COVID-19 Update: 710 New Cases Statewide, 14 Cases in Summit County, 5 in Wasatch
With COVID-19 cases still trending downwards, the 7-day rolling average of new cases is around 950 per day, the lowest it’s been since September.
The Utah Department of Health announced 710 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, which is about 200 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week.
There were 4,635 people tested for the first time, with 9,686 total tests administered. On average, about 6% of tests-over-tests are coming back positive statewide.
Summit County reported 14 new cases. In comparison, last Sunday Summit County saw 8 cases.
Wasatch County reported 5 new cases. Last Sunday, Wasatch saw 4.
Utah’s Department of Health reported four new deaths. To date, 1,794 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including eight from Summit County and 19 from Wasatch County.
Utah’s Department of Health reported 38 new hospitalizations. There are 278people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, around 81% of referral center ICU beds are in use.
A reported, 11,811 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Saturday, bringing the total number to 524,000 doses administered. Both Summit and Wasatch Counties are registering to vaccinate residents 70-years or older.
